ToolsVirtuoLab's own demo

Smart Calculator Pro

Smart Calculator Pro is a demo by VirtuoLab: an interactive mortgage calculator built as a React page with Next.js and TypeScript. First, a visitor chooses annuity or linear repayment. Second, three sliders set the term from 5 to 30 years, the interest rate from 1% to 10% and the loan amount from €50,000 to €1,000,000. The page recalculates the monthly payment, total interest and remaining debt on every slider movement. Additionally, a donut chart, a stacked bar chart and a yearly repayment table show the result. For example, the bar chart splits each year into interest and repayment, with a dashed line for the remaining debt. All calculations run in the browser, and the demo stores no input. Smart Calculator Pro is a showcase for interactive calculation tools, not financial advice, and the interface is in Dutch.

What does the Smart Calculator Pro demo show?

Smart Calculator Pro is an interactive mortgage calculator, built by VirtuoLab as a demo page with React, Next.js and TypeScript. First, a visitor chooses between annuity and linear repayment. Second, three sliders set the loan amount from €50,000 to €1,000,000, the interest rate from 1% to 10% and the term from 5 to 30 years. The monthly payment, the total amount paid and the total interest update on every slider movement. A donut chart splits the total into repayment and interest, with both shares as a percentage. Additionally, a stacked bar chart shows interest and repayment per year, with a dashed line for the remaining debt. A second tab switches to a yearly repayment table with a progress bar per year. Finally, three cards compare the first month, the halfway year and the last year, for example to show how the interest share drops over time. All calculations run in the browser, and the demo stores no input.

Which business problem does an online calculator like Smart Calculator Pro solve, and for whom?

An online calculator is a self-service tool which gives a visitor an estimate at once, instead of after days of email. The business problem is lost interest: visitors leave a website when a quote takes too long. Mortgage advisers, financial planners, installers, leasing companies and webshops with configurable products benefit most. A visitor who sees an indicative monthly cost straight away understands the offer faster and asks better questions in the first conversation. Mobile use matters as well: according to StatCounter, phones generated about 65% of web traffic in the Netherlands in September 2026. Every slider and chart therefore needs to work on a small screen. In practice, the strongest calculators show the reasoning, not only the outcome, as with Smart Calculator Pro: every payment splits into interest and repayment, so the visitor sees why a longer term costs more in total. A clear disclaimer belongs on the page, because an estimate on a website is never personal financial advice.

How does VirtuoLab build a calculator tool for a real business?

VirtuoLab builds a calculator tool for a real business as a small web app or as a component inside an existing website. Step 1 is a scope session about the formulas, the inputs and the rules behind every outcome. Step 2 is design and validation: the calculation is tested against examples from the business. Step 3 is building and testing, for example with React, Next.js and TypeScript, as in the demo. The stack is mainstream: according to Stack Overflow's Developer Survey 2025, 44.7% of respondents used React, so another developer can maintain the code. VirtuoLab can also connect the calculator to a CRM via an API. Finally, step 4 is launch and support. As an indication, a simple web app costs €5,000 to €10,000 with a lead time of 3 to 6 weeks, and a simple API connection adds €1,500 to €4,000. The exact price follows after a free introductory call, and the business owns the code.
